It was such a treat to drive around in the car with all the windows down with my dad looking for hidden gems. I still do it once in a while, but now I put Bear in the truck. I roll down the window so he can look out as we follow the signs searching for the address. This last Saturday was an experience to remember. We rolled up and I got front row parking, right in front of the house so Bear could sit in his seat buckled in. I left the truck and asked him to stay like usual. There was an elderly man inside the garage and he immediately greeted me saying his wife was in charge. I roamed around spotting some milk glass and a vintage ash tray. I asked him how much for both items. He was occupied looking and listening to Bear who was communicating to him from the truck. Bear has a senior’s radar and has a built-in affection for them. The man called for his wife who came out. She was instantly captivated by Bear and started to go near the end of the driveway. I assured her he was a gentle giant. I could see Bear start to put down his ears and widen his eyes ready for a head rub. Bear was as good as gold for her. She was so joyful to have his affection. She put her arm around his big bulky head and then took my arm and hand to shake it. “Oh, what a nice big puppy.” I gave her cash for my goods. She hugged me as a left their garage pad. The kindness in Bear’s eyes matched by the joy in hers. I was a proud mama.
